Engaging Persons with Disabilities in National and Community Service FY 2005: The Corporation for National and Community Service (hereinafter the Corporation) announces the availability of approximately $5,100,000 to award Engaging Persons with Disabilities in National and Community Service Grants. The Corporation expects to make 1 to 5 awards that range in amounts from approximately $1,000,000 to $5,100,000 covering a period not to exceed three years. The purpose of these grants is to fund innovative national or regional (operating in at least three or more states) partnership models in which persons with disabilities are engaged in service that results in a measurable impact on the community served. This grant opportunity will engage more Americans with disabilities in national and community service. The Corporation is specifically interested in the following categories: Using service as a strategy to assist in the transition of young persons with disabilities from school to adult life. Providing adults with disabilities, preferably disabled veterans, the opportunity to engage in service. The Corporation wants to ensure that all eligible organizations are able to compete on an equal basis for federal financial assistance. The Corporation encourages all eligible public and private non-profit organizations, including faith-based and other community-based organizations, to apply. The deadline for eGrants submissions is 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 12, 2005. If you are unable to submit your application using eGrants, a paper application along with a diskette or CD Rom with an exact duplicate of your application must be received at the Corporation for National and Community Service, 1201 New York Avenue, NW, Attn: Engaging Persons with Disabilities in National and Community Service, Washington, DC 20525 by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 12, 2005. Applications submitted by fax or email will not be accepted. This Notice, with the complete application, guidelines and other relevant material, is available on the Corporations website at: http://www.nationalservice.org/ under Funding and Initiatives. The TDD number is 2025652799. Upon request, this information will be made available in alternative formats for persons with disabilities. The Corporation will make awards covering a period not to exceed three years with continued funding beyond year one contingent upon satisfactory performance and other criteria established in the award agreement. These funds are available under authority of section 129 (d) (5) (C) of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12581 (d) (5) (C)) and the Omnibus Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2004. NOTE: Publication of this announcement does not obligate the Corporation to award any specific number of grants or to obligate the entire amount of funds available, or any part thereof, for grants under the Engaging Persons with Disabilities in National and Community Service program.
