- Additional Information on Eligibility
- Pursuant to the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965, as amended (42 U.S.C. 3121 et seq.), eligible applicants for and eligible recipients of EDA investment assistance include a District Organization; an Indian Tribe or a consortium of Indian Tribes; a State; a city or other political subdivision of a State, including a special purpose unit of a State or local government engaged in economic or infrastructure development activities, or a consortium of political subdivisions; an institution of higher education or a consortium of institutions of higher education; a public or private non-profit organization or association; a private individual; or a for-profit organization.
- Grant Description
- EDA is soliciting applications to provide technical assistance in connection with the following projects: (1) information dissemination to practitioners serving economically distressed areas and (2) six regional symposia. Applicants may submit applications for either of these two projects individually or collectively. The information dissemination project has three components: broadcasting of strategy telecasts; preparation and dissemination of monthly electronic newsletters; and preparation and dissemination of a quarterly magazine. Applications must address each of these three (3) components. EDA is soliciting applications from national organizations to partner with EDA to organize, support, promote and hold a series of six one-day Regional Economic Development Roundtable Meetings at six (6) separate locations across the United States (to be determined by EDA) between the dates of October 1, 2006 and October 1, 2007. The purpose of the Roundtable Meetings will be to provide regional forums for private and public sector leaders to deliberate on cluster-based regional economic development strategies, and policies and best practices for creating jobs and economic opportunity in a 21st century economy. At the conclusion of the Roundtable Meetings, the recipient will document and share with the national economic development community the strategies, policies and best practices.
