- Projects are to 1) monitor populations of Pacific salmon species in the Mattole River and its tributaries; and 2) implement habitat improvement measures to benefit these species. Cooperatively monitor fish populations and restore fish habitat with the goal of benefitting resources throughout the watershed. This will foster a more ecosystem and watershed-based approach to addressing resource management issues in the Mattole River watershed. Additionally, cooperative efforts are needed to further stimulate landowner and community interest, increase awareness and encourage involvement in ecological, economic and social aspects of managing natural resources in the watershed. Efforts that promote long-term stability in fisheries populations while providing for sustainable economic activity within the Mattole River watershed are needed.
