- This project proposes to restore habitat currently occupied by the western lily, and treat additional potential habitat. Suitable habitat will be selected based on similarities in soils and other physical habitat characteristics. Depth to water table will be recorded with data logging piezometers installed both within occupied lily habitat and in suspected suitable habitat at several adjacent locations. At the same time, up to 1,000 plants will be grown from seed collected both at the New River site and other suitable western lily sites in Oregon by the Recipient. The vegetation management, seed collection, artificial propagation, selection of suitable habitat, outplanting of propagules, and monitoring would be conducted as a formal scientific experiment.
