- Grant Description
- A. Project Background Information: This project is part of an ongoing large scale stream restoration project that in combination would reconnect over 34 miles of fragmented habitat for BLM sensitive Colorado River cutthroat trout, bluehead sucker, flannelmouth sucker, and roundtail chub. There are three phases of this project with the expectation that completion would occur within 5 years. Initial funding for this project would go towards completion of Phase1. Completion of additional phases may be added as funding becomes available. B. Project Objective: This project is part of an ongoing large scale stream restoration project that in combination would reconnect over 34 miles of fragmented habitat for and Colorado River cutthroat trout, bluehead sucker, flannelmouth sucker, and roundtail chub. This project would benefit the public by helping protect our nation's valuable aquatic resources and provide additional recreational fishing opportunities. The goal of this project is to modify these structures to allow fish passage while maintaining stream grade and function of the original structures. The goals of this project include: 1) development of a design that will allow for fish passage and reclaim a section of degraded stream caused by a culvert road crossing on Muddy Creek and 2) the design and removal/modification an existing fish barrier on Littlefield Creek and sheet piling structures in Muddy Creek to allow for fish passage. This design would then be used to obtain cost estimates and identify funding needs for future conservation efforts.
