Community-Based Problem-Solving Criminal Justice Initiative's Technical Assistance Program: The mission of Problem-Solving Approaches Initiative is to improve outcomes for defendants and reduce recidivism through the collaboration between courts, law enforcement, human service organizations and community based organizations. The program goals are to: (1) Improve the criminal justices system's ability to screen, assess and supervise defendants to improve outcomes for defendants; (2) Utilize the authority of the criminal justice system to hold defendants accountable while linking them to appropriate, high-quality community resources and services; (3) Create a better understanding of and effective linkages between the criminal justice system , community social service organizations and public health systems. Through the Problem-Solving Technical Assistance Program, training and technical assistance in the development of problem-solving strategies will be provided to ensure resources and services are leveraged and appropriate for each jurisdiction targeted with this program, as well as other interested jurisdictions.
