Grants for New Investigator Training Awards for Unintentional Injury, Violence Related Injury, Injury Biomechanics, and Acute Injury Care Research: CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ? Grants for New Investigator Training Awards for Unintentional Injury, Violence Related Injury, Injury Biomechanics, and Acute Injury Care Research.? $900,000 [this amount is an estimate, and subject to the availability of funds] will be available in fiscal year 2005 to fund approximately nine awards. The purposes of the program are to: (1) Solicit research applications that address the priorities reflected under the heading, ?Research Objectives?. (2) Encourage professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines to conduct research aimed at preventing and controlling injuries more effectively. (3) Support injury research by new investigators who are doctoral-level graduates and who have not previously received injury-related CDC R49 or their equivalent grants. (4) Build the scientific base for the prevention and control of unintentional- and violence-related injuries, disabilities, and deaths. (5) Encourage qualified applicants who are beginning to focus on injury-related research.
