Mariana Crow Monitoring: The Mariana Crow population on Rota has declined by 90% since the 1980s, largely due to poor first year survival. Between 2009 and 2018, the primary cause of death for juvenile Mariana Crows necropsied by the USGS National Wildlife Health Center was a poorly understood inflammatory disease with pathology suggestive of an infectious agent. To date, twenty aga carcasses, representing nearly 10% of the current population, have shown evidence of this disease.
