- CDC's Procurement and Grants Office has published a funding opportunity announcement entitled, "A Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Lookback Study: Assessing the Risk of Blood Borne Transmission of Classic Forms of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (U01)". Approximately $92,000 will be available in fiscal year 2009 to fund 1 award. The purpose of this FOA is to continue an active, nationwide study begun in 1995 of recipients of blood products from donors who are subsequently diagnosed with classic forms of CJD in order to assess the risk of the possible transmission of such forms of CJD by blood transfusion.
