AHRQ Independent Scientist Award (K02): The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) announces its continued interest in supporting the Independent Scientist Award (K02) in health services research. The K02 provides specialized study support for clinically-trained (e.g., M.D., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.O., D.C., O.D., D.N.S., Pharm.D.) or research-trained (e.g., Dr. P.H., Ph.D., Sc.D.) doctoral individuals who are committed to a career in health services research and have not been out of their latest research training experience (e.g., Masters degree, Ph.D. degree, post-doctoral training, clinical residency, or career development award) for more than seven years. The mission of AHRQ is to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans. Applications submitted in response to this FOA must be responsive to Agency goals and priorities, as described below. AHRQ will provide salary and fringe benefits for the K02 recipient for a requested percentage of the candidate s institutional salary, of up to $90,000 annually plus associated fringe benefits. Additionally, up to $25,000 per year for research development support, as detailed below, will be provided.
