CFDA# and Title: 0.00 - Not Elsewhere Classified Single Source Justification: Criteria Sited: Unique Qualifications - The University of Alaska-Fairbanks (UAF), Department of Alaska Native and Rural Development was selected because it is specifically designed to reach a rural Alaskan and Alaska Native adult student body through long-distance telecom classes and special week-long seminars. It is the only educational institution in the State of Alaska established to deliver this kind of education to rural Alaskans. Additionally, UAF offers both Bachelor and Masters level educational programs within this program. 85% of the students are Alaska Natives, all adults, and many are leaders within their home communities. The seminars in relation, to this program, are designed to share NPS values and purpose with rural Alaskans in hopes there is a greater appreciation for the NPS role in Alaska.
