Bright Futures Pediatric Implementation: The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to improve the quality of health promotion and preventive services for infants, children, adolescents and their families through the effective national implementation of the Bright Futures Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children and Adolescents. The goals of Bright Futures are to promote desired social, developmental, health and oral health outcomes of infants, children and adolescents; enhance health care and oral health professionals' knowledge, skills and practice of developmentally appropriate pediatric care in the context of family and community; increase family knowledge, skills and participation in health promoting and prevention activities; and foster partnerships between families, health and oral health professionals, and communities. The grantee will provide national leadership to improve the content, delivery and effectiveness of pediatric health promotion and preventive services by maintaining and updating the Bright Futures guidelines and related materials in response to changing standards and new scientific knowledge; developing, implementing, evaluating and disseminating innnovative strategies and tools to foster the use of Bright Futures by multidisciplinary providers of pediatric clinical care in a variety of settings, public health professionals, and families and communities; and by fostering the use of Bright Futures in the education and training of health care, oral health and public health professionals.
