Building Public Trust in NGOs: The intent of the program is to enable the NGO sector to form a broad public support base by making transparency and improvement of the sectors infrastructure a central part of its agenda. Under this program, USAID expects to receive applications seeking to improve the third sectors transparency and accountability, develop self-regulation mechanisms, strengthen the NGO sectors legitimacy and broaden its linkages to the constituencies, facilitate the articulation of its strategic policies, encourage research into and analysis of the sector to obtain comprehensive sector-specific data with which to educate and influence various stakeholders, provide innovative solutions to sectors long-term concerns such as resource mobilization, organizational development, and others.
