Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN) Limited Competition (U54): The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite new applications for a five-year Cooperative Agreement (U54) award that will transition the current Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN) to a research center. When the CVRN was initially funded in 2007 (RFA-HL-07-011) applications were limited to those submitted by domestic healthcare delivery organizations. As the current Network has developed significant databases that will be expanded by the new Center, applications responding to this FOA are limited to grantees funded under RFA-HL-07-011. The overarching goals of the CVRN are to support high-quality cardiovascular disease (CVD) research in community-based care, with a particular focus on intervention and comparative effectiveness research; accelerate knowledge of how electronic health data systems across multiple, integrated healthcare organizations can contribute to intervention and comparative effectiveness research; expand the Network's ability to serve as a resource to NHLBI; and increase research collaborations between healthcare provider organizations and researchers affiliated with organizations outside the Network.
