Center of Excellence for the Study of Natural Disasters, Coastal Infrastructure and Emergency Management: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate is soliciting applications for the establishment of a Center of Excellence (COE) in Natural Disasters, Coastal Infrastructure and Emergency Management. This COE will conduct research to enhance the Nations technical capabilities to prepare for, prevent, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural disasters in coastal areas. The COE will also develop relevant educational curricula for both matriculated students and mid-career professionals. The COE will collaborate with the DHS/S&T Directorates Infrastructure/Geophysical Division, which manages a full-spectrum research and development (R&D) program from fundamental research to advanced technologies. This COE will provide enabling basic research that will advance the technical tools and information that S&Ts customers will need in the future. This COE will also participate in S&Ts University Network, a consortium of COEs that share resources and data and collaborate on research projects in order to provide cost-effective results to support DHS mission.
