Clinical Interventions to Increase Organ Procurement: The goal of this Clinical Intervention Grant Program is to assist eligible entities in the implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of interventions to increase procurement of organs in the setting of controlled and/or uncontrolled donation after circulatory determination of death (DCDD). Eligible interventions must have a component of collaboration between hospitals and Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) to council and inform families about DCDD opportunities. Additionally, interventions could focus on new and/or improved methods to identify and refer potential DCDDs, develop and implement donation protocols, optimize organ preservation and procurement methods, and assessments of post transplant organ function in the DCDD setting. All projects must have rigorous methodology and evaluation components capable of ascertaining the effectiveness of the intervention(s).
