Develop a Taxonomist in Parks program and assist in Service-wide Pollinator project needs: Cooperative Agreement Number H1727100008 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS) and the Boston Harbor Island Alliance (BHIA) for support of safe visitor access, public information, and citizen science and scholarly research for Boston Harbor Islands National Park area. This Task Agreement is to develop a "Taxonomist in Parks" Program (similar to the existing "Geologists in Parks" program.) Over the past six years, under previous cooperative agreements and task agreements with BHIA (most recently TA J1727100009), an All Taxa Biological Inventory (ATBI) have been performed on Boston Harbor Islands (BOHA). As an extension of the inventory work done at BOHA, a new longer term goal is to create a NPS taxonomy program by assessing the BOHA ATBI to identify best practices and lessons learned. Additionally, Service-wide ATBI pollinator project will be addressed, including development of informational briefs based on BOHAs pollinator study to serve as templates for other NPS units, and assistance with NPS taxonomic and curation requirements for the specimens collected during the course of the pollinator study.
