Education Action Project: PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE In the near future, USAID/Nicaragua intends to announce a full and open competition to implement the Mission's new Education Action (Educa/Accion) project. The project will be implemented nationwide in selected primary and secondary schools managed by non-governmental and faith-based organizations (NGO/FBOs). Educa/Accion is an eighteen (18) month project with a planned start date of o/a March 2010 and an estimated cost between $1.5 and $2 Million. The purpose of the project is to expand Nicaragua's model school program linking this approach with a comprehensive after-school component focused on life skills development and vocational education. Primary results include increased opportunities for learning through the model school approach along with increases in civic values, healthy lifestyles and employment opportunities through participation in comprehensive after-school activities. The prime grantee for this umbrella project will develop four (4) or more partnerships with local NGOs who will implement the project in approximately 300 NGO/FBO schools nationwide.
