Enhancing Capacity for Anti-Money Laundering in Nicaragua: In support of anti-money laundering efforts and to limit space for illicit operators in Nicaragua, the U.S. Department of State has allocated US$500,000 in FY 2019 INCLE/Central America Regional Security Initiative funds to improve anti-money laundering efforts by strengthening the capacity of local organizations, businesses, and relevant professions (lawyers, accountants, etc.) that are subject to AML legislation. The project will increase the capacity of these key actors to understand the risks and vulnerabilities associated with money laundering as well as their responsibilities as reporting subjects under Nicaraguan AML legislation.
