FY 2022 Study of the U.S. Institutes for Global Student Leaders: The Study of the U.S. Branch (ECA/A/E/USS), Office of Academic Exchange Programs, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), invites proposal submissions from accredited U.S. post-secondary education institutions (community colleges, liberal arts colleges, public and private universities) and other U.S. public and private non-profit organizations (see NOFO Section C. Eligibility Information) for the design and implementation of five Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSIs) for Global Student Leaders. Four Institutes will take place over the course of five weeks in summer 2023 and one Institute will take place in winter 2024. See details in NOFO section A.4. Program Administration. The SUSIs for Global Student Leaders provide multinational groups of undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of U.S. society, culture, and institutions. Each of the five Institutes focuses on a theme or topics in U.S. studies and will be five weeks in duration, including an approximately four-week academic residency at a U.S. academic institution and an approximately one-week integrated educational study tour. The academic residency should take place on a U.S. university or college campus and should include academic coursework as well as weekly community service activities, weekly leadership and skills development sessions, and opportunities for interaction with speakers from diverse backgrounds and interaction with American peers. The study tour should take participants to another region of the United States and complement the academic residency. The program should include opportunities for continued follow-on engagement once participants return home. Please see the full announcement for additional information.
