FY14 Safety Analysis of ECP Brake Equipment for Passenger Trains - Phase-II: Provide a grant to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for the purposes of supporting the conduct of a Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), an Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (OSHA), a Safety Traceability Matrix and a Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) of a proposed American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Safety Standard for Electronically-Controlled Pneumatic Brake Equipment for use in passenger train applications according to established, recognized industry standards and methods. Expand work with the Brake Supplier to review and analyze the operating manuals, consequences of not applying the correct procedure for the operation, and maintenance tasks identified as mitigation in the PHA and FMECA. Work with the Brake Supplier to ensure the proposed mitigations are reasonable and can be implemented in the operating procedures being submitted to the railroad companies.
