First Steps Toward Developing Renewable Energy and EnergyEfficiency on Tribal Lands: DOE?s Tribal Energy Program promotes tribal energyself-sufficiency and fostersemployment and economic development on Tribal Lands. Under thisannouncement,DOE is soliciting applications from Federally-recognized Tribes, AlaskaNativevillages and Alaskan Native Corporations (hereafter referred to as?Tribes?)for strategic planning, energy options analysis or resource planning,energyorganization development, and human capacity building related tosustainableenergy efficiency implementation or renewable energy development.DOE will only consider applications from Tribes on whose Tribal Lands theproject will be located. For purposes of this announcement,Federally-recognized Tribes, Alaskan Native villages and Alaskan NativeCorporations and Tribal Lands are as defined in Appendix A. Applicationsfroma consortium of Tribes will be accepted but must be submitted by a singleTriberepresenting the consortium.Energy efficiency applications for buildings include, but are not limitedto,the use of energy efficiency for the building envelope, space heating andcooling, water heating, lighting, appliances, office equipment and buildingelectrical equipment. The above list can apply to homes, schools, ortribalgovernment buildings.Renewable energy uses include, but are not limited to, the use of renewableenergy for: direct electrical generation, building uses, water pumping, orother grid connected or off-grid power uses. Examples of renewable energytechnologies include, but are not limited to the following: photovoltaic(solarelectric), concentrating solar power, solar thermal systems (i.e., activeorpassive solar technologies for space or water heating), or power generationtechnologies such as wind, biomass power, hydro, geothermal electricgeneration, geothermal resources for direct heating and coolingapplications,and other renewable or renewable hybrid systems.Interested parties should access the DOE Golden Field Office Home Page at,http://www.go.doe.gov/funding.html , and access the announcement in theIndustry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) web site by clicking on the?Access? link. The Golden Home Page also provides instructions onregisteringand submitting applications in IIPS.
