Green Infrastructure Demonstration Projects, Education and Partnership Building: OVERVIEW This project will assist the NPS in developing its tools for strategic conservation planning using a Green Infrastructure approach. The project will have several components, including: Green Infrastructure demonstration projects: Identification of projects to demonstrate the characteristics, methods, and results of Green Infrastructure and related strategic conservation initiatives as they relate to the National Park System and NPS program areas. These projects will be undertaken in several regions of the country. Green Infrastructure education and training: Collaborative planning, implementation, and sponsorship of education and training opportunities including Green Infrastructure training courses, workshops, and conferences. Green Infrastructure outreach and marketing: Initiating outreach and marketing to increase awareness of the use of Green Infrastructure concepts and practices as they relate to the National Park System management of public lands through case studies and other publications, web-based educational resources, roundtables, and outreach to other organizations. Green Infrastructure Partnerships: Advancing Green Infrastructure through partnerships between the NPS, non-governmental organizations, and other federal, regional, state, and local initiatives. Continuing efforts to identify and engage new organizations and individuals as partners in Green Infrastructure activities. Funding for Green Infrastructure-related activities: Identifying potential sources of public and private funding to support Green Infrastructure demonstration projects, education, outreach, and other activities undertaken by the NPS and its partners. STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN The objectives of this agreement are to engage the public; state, regional, and local governments; and non-governmental organizations with the NPS in demonstration projects relating to the National Park System using Green Infrastructure planning as a tool; education and training opportunities relating to Green Infrastructure planning; outreach and marketing relating to Green Infrastructure; and partnerships that promote Green Infrastructure planning as it relates to the National Park System. RECIPIENT INVOLVEMENT The recipient agrees to: provide leadership in conducting demonstration projects, provide leadership on education and training activities; provide shared leadership in developing partnerships to advance Green Infrastructure goals; provide leadership in collecting and distributing funding information for projects, education, outreach, and other projects related to this Agreement; and provide meeting space for courses, workshops, and conferences (based upon availability). NATIONAL PARK SERVICE INVOLVEMENT The NPS agrees to: assist in education and training activities; provide shared leadership in developing partnerships to advance Green Infrastructure goals; and assist in collecting and distributing funding information for projects, education, outreach, and other projects related to this Agreement.
