HIV-1 and Host Genetics in Drug Using Populations and Model Organisms (R01): -Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by NIDA, National Institutes of Health, solicits Research Project Grant applications that propose to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which genetic variations provide protection from or vulnerability to infection, and how drugs of abuse, medications for drug addiction, and HIV-1 treatment interact with both host and viral genes. -Mechanism of Support.
