Habitate Management Support Interns: Project Title: Habitat Management Support Interns All SOIs must be submitted via www.Grants.gov by 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), on 18 July 2014 Responses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential investigators for a project to be funded by Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) which provides professional and technical support for its Natural Resources Program in order to facilitate successful implementation of the TAFB Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) in accordance with the Sikes Act. Approximately $12,000 is expected to be available to support this project. Additional funding may be available for follow on work in subsequent fiscal years to the successful Recipient/Awardee. Background: Project supports TAFB natural resources staff with development and implementation of ecosystem management program for approximately 5,500 acres of base property and additional acreages of adjoining off-base properties. Project provides assistance with day-to-day management functions and operations as well as development and implementation of short and long range conservation program goals and objectives for flora, fauna, water, and soil resources as well as associated human dimensions. This includes, but is not limited to, wetlands, floodplains, native prairies/woodlands, urban forest, rare/sensitive species, invasive species, fisheries, wildlife, and natural resources-related outdoor recreation such as angling and hunting. The primary focus will be on ecological restoration and maintenance activities to ensure military mission accomplishment and installation compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Brief Description of Anticipated Work: This administrative and field assistance focuses on the following objectives: 1) Objective 1: Interns perform projects, activities, and tasks to support annual execution of the TAFB Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) mission, vision, goals, and objectives to ensure compliance with applicable laws, executive orders, regulations, and other governing guidance. Period of Performance: The period of performance is from date of award for a 12-week internship. Relevant past projects and clients with brief descriptions of these projects, c. Staff, faculty or students available to work on this project and their areas of expertise, d. Any brief description of capabilities to successfully complete the project you may wish to add (e.g. equipment, laboratory facilities, greenhouse facilities, field facilities, etc.). Note: A full study proposal and proposed budget are NOT requested at this time. Review of Statements Received: All statements of interest received will be evaluated by a board, who will determine which statement(s) best meet the program objectives. Statements will be evaluated based on the investigator’s specific experience and capabilities in areas related to the study requirements. The statement or statements selected shall be invited to submit full proposals. Those not selected to submit full proposals will be notified of the decision in writing.
