Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa): Research Education Program (UE5 Clinical Trial Not Allowed): The NIH Research Education Program (UE5) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this UE5 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a diverse workforce to meet the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs of the Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) program. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on: Courses for Skills Development The goal of DS-I Africa is to spur new health discoveries and catalyze innovation in healthcare, public health, and health research on the continent through application of data science. Applications are encouraged that propose innovative, state-of-the-art, hands-on programs that advance the goal of DS-I Africa. The courses should focus on activities that target educational needs or gaps in the DS-I Africa consortium, and thus applicants must have support from current DS-I Africa awardees. Applications must be submitted from African academic or other non-profit organizations.
