Implementation of activities in the 2017 Prairie Pothole Joint Venture Implementation Plan: Funds provided in this agreement are directly or indirectly used to create or expand waterfowl hunting and viewing opportunities through habitat conservation, knowledge development, and youth events. Consequently, funds may be used for Conservation Planning/ Project Development/Implementation/ and targeted communications and outreach (this may include youth hunting opportunities). Additionally, funds will be used to deliver FWS wetland and grassland conservation easements through landowner contact and development and administration of easement agreements. Finally, DU and partners have developed a collaborative research venture around a comprehensive evaluation of the relationship between waterfowl brood use, invertebrate populations, and vegetation assemblages within wetlands embedded in croplands. Two graduate student positions will be funded for this research. Results will provide conservation organizations with valuable information to guide future planning and management strategies in cropland-dominated landscapes.
