Interns to Monitor Water Quality - INDU: This announcement is to provide public notice of the NPS's intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed cooperative agreement P15AC00024 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, NPS, and Conservation Legacy for the purpose of completing conservation projects, provide young adults with structured, safe, and challenging work and educational opportunities through projects that promote personal growth, the development of life skills, and an ethic of natural resource stewardship. Task Agreement P19AC00093 is for water quality monitoring at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore will primarily involve performing team-based field work. Field work includes the collection of chemical and biological data and conducting surveys. Monitoring duties also involve lab and office work such as processing samples, downloading information, database management, and performing quality assurance measures. In some cases data will be reported for the purpose of public safety which will enhance awareness and knowledge of natural resource conditions among the public. Information collected via this project will be reported to the public in various ways for the purpose of public safety which may also enhance public awareness and knowledge of natural resources. The work involved will provide youths with direct experience monitoring natural areas and understanding how the information helps to protect them.
