Interpretation and Resource Management Interns: THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service's intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement. Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00015 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and American Conservation Experience (ACE) to provide rewarding environmental service opportunities that harness the idealism and energy of a volunteer labor force to help improve America's public lands. Each of the six Interpretation and Resource Management interns will work directly with the National Park staff to learn aspects of operations at New River Gorge National River (NERI), Gauley River National Recreation Area (GARI), and Bluestone National Scenic River (BLUE). The interns will learn about complex natural and cultural resources in the parks through interactive experiences and work assignments. They will learn about resource challenges such as insecticide impacts on amphibian populations and water pollution. Also, interns will be directly involved with coordinating and scheduling park activity programs and developing a climbing stewardship program. Interns will participate in training including park and NPS Mission orientation, CPR and first aid, and training in the skills of performing surveys, application of pesticides, software programs, and other applications specific to each position.
