Junior Faculty Development Program: The Office of Academic Exchange Programs/European Programs Branch of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA/A/E) announces an open competition for the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP). Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501 (c) (3) may submit proposals to administer the program in cooperation with ECA. Program participants will be university faculty in the early stages of their careers from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The recipient organization, in close coordination with the Public Affairs Sections (PAS) of the U.S. Embassies, will recruit and select candidates for the program in each country, with the exception of Uzbekistan where recruitment will be managed by the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent. The recipient organization will identify U.S. colleges and universities to host participants for a one-semester, non-degree program. The recipient organization for this program will be responsible for the financial management of the program, will support and oversee the activities of the fellows throughout their stay in the United States, and will plan for follow-on activities in the participants‟ home countries. Pending the availability of funds, the total amount of funding requested from ECA may not exceed $1,497,000 and should support three to six participants per participating country, for a total of at least 70 fully funded participants.
