Lower Calaveras River Anadromous Fish Barrier Removal Project, San Joaquin County, CA.: Funding is available through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Anadromous Fish Restoration Program to improve salmonid passage opportunities in the Lower Calaveras River, San Joaquin County, California. The following specific objectives are to be addressed in the proposal: 1.Identify significant passage barriers within the project area. 2.Determine feasibility of implementation for each improvement site. Landowners at each barrier should be identified and issues that might adversely impact improvement construction should be identified and addressed for each site. Identify necessary permits for each site. 3.Develop and provide design methodologies for passage improvement projects for each site identified. 4.Develop a monitoring plan to document project effectiveness that includes stranding surveys and as built flow measurements under a variety of flows. 5.Develop a plan to monitor the response of anadromous fish to the project.
