Minority-Based Community Clinical Oncology Program (U10): -The Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP), National Cancer Institute (NCI) announces the continuation of the established program known as Minority-Based Community Clinical Oncology Program (Minority-Based CCOP) through which practicing oncologists who serve large minority populations participate in the NCI-sponsored clinical trials. The purpose of this program is to support, as a national resource, research activities of physicians involved in the care of minorities who are eligible to participate in NCI-sponsored cancer prevention/control and treatment clinical trials. The NCI clinical trials program supports Minority-Based CCOP groups by providing access to clinical trials in cancer centers, major university centers, and community programs. The linkage of minority cancer patients/participants to the current clinical trials network facilitates the transfer of new research advancements in cancer prevention/control/treatment practices to minority communities and their physicians. -This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits U10 cooperative agreement applications from applicants seeking to establish a new Minority-Based CCOP group as well as from existing Minority-Based CCOP groups seeking renewal. The NCI intends to commit approximately $3 million in total costs in FY 2007 to fund approximately 7 new and/or renewal Minority-Based CCOP applications. -This FOA is explicitly designed for domestic institutions with the capability and intent to serve new cancer patients/clinical trial participants largely from minority populations (as defined by the Office of Management and Budget Statistical Policy Directive No. 15, Race and Ethnic Standards for Federal Statistics and Administrative Reporting at http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/fedreg/1997standards.html)
