Multicultural Scholars Program: The traineeships supported through the Higher Education Multicultural Scholars Program (MSP) are intended to encourage outstanding students to pursue and complete degrees in critical Program Areas of Emphasis, through Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and/or baccalaureate degree level in food and agricultural sciences training programs at eligible institutions. The program will advance the national Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education achievement of all Americans. The awards through this MSP grants program for student training provide a scholarship support and a cost-of-education allowance to the institution. The scholarships are intended to increase the number of new and outstanding students, from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the food and agricultural sciences, who pursue and complete their degrees with scientific and professional competence. For the FY 2008 award cycle CSREES intends to support traineeships for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and/or baccalaureate degree in food and agricultural sciences training grants as well as Special Experiential Learning (SEL) funding to provide support for eligible USDA Multicultural Program Scholars to undertake studies at sites relevant to developing professional expertise. SEL awards for eligible USDA Multicultural Program Scholars will only be available as provided for within this announcement.
