Novel Synthetic Nucleic Acid Technology Development (R01 Clinical Trial not allowed): This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits R01 grant applications to develop novel technologies that will enable no less than one order of magnitude improvement in synthetic nucleic acids. The goal is to improve the quality, capabilities and efficiency of nucleic acid synthesis and synthetic constructs (e.g., longer oligonucleotide and synthetic construct lengths, faster turn-around times, greater accuracy, incorporation of modified bases, higher-throughput, etc.) at reasonable and decreased costs with the anticipation that major advances in any of these and related areas would make significant contributions to the mission of NIH, NHGRI and the field of genomics, including to many of NHGRIs other technology development goals.
