Opioid Treatment Program Accreditation Grants: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2008 for Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Accreditation grants. The purpose of this program is to reduce the costs of basic accreditation education and accreditation/reaccreditation surveys (site visits) for OTPs participating in the accreditation process pursuant to Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 8 (42 CFR Part 8). A copy of 42 CFR Part 8 is available at http://www.dpt.samhsa.gov/pdf/regs.pdf. CSAT is announcing the OTP Accreditation Program for a final cycle of 3 years.

- Only SAMHSA approved accreditation bodies are eligible applicants. This is because under Federal regulation, "The Final Rule on Opioid Drugs in Maintenance and Detoxification Treatment of Opiate Addiction" (42 CFR Part 8), private nonprofit organizations or State governmental agencies, or political subdivisions thereof, must be approved by SAMHSA in order to conduct accreditation processes and site visits with OTPs. Therefore, grant applications from organizations that have not met the regulatory requirements, i.e., have not been approved by SAMHSA as an accreditation body, will not be considered for an award.
