PDS Zagreb Annual Program Statement: The following categories of projects are not eligible for funding:· Projects involving partisan political activity;· Projects involving charitable activities and/or the distribution of humanitarian aid;· Projects involving a fundraising campaign;· Projects that are commercial in nature (for example, projects from which the applicant or a partner derives money or which supports a current or future business or entrepreneurial venture);· Projects involving the provision of health care or services, childcare, food subsidies, or other social services;· Projects funding individual travel outside of Croatia for consultations or conferences. PDS Zagreb invites proposals for programs in the following areas: Entrepreneurship/Economic Prosperity • Projects that prepare small- and medium-sized enterprises to expand to the global market. • Anti-corruption educational programs and initiatives that contribute to government accountability, business transparency, and improving Croatia’s investment climate. • Entrepreneurship programs for underrepresented audiences including women, minorities, and residents of small cities and rural areas. • Programs supporting women’s rise to senior leadership positions in government, business management, civil society, academia, and other sectors. • Programs that deepen ties between U.S. and Croatian professional tech organizations and institutions, preferably with the virtual or in-person participation of U.S. experts on topics such as artificial intelligence, financial technology, and cybersecurity. Gaming/Esports • Projects that promote career opportunities in esports and gaming, including through tournaments, festivals, workshops, lectures, conferences, and related activities to improve conditions for amateur and professional gamers, including those from underrepresented groups. • Activities that highlight game development as a growing industry, such as hackathons, game jams, and professional development activities for programmers. Engaging U.S. experts in virtual or in-person programs is recommended. Climate Action • Innovative programs that engage American and Croatian experts in climate action, including raising climate awareness, elevating environmental justice, and promoting the green economy and eco-friendly entrepreneurial initiatives such as sustainable development, sustainable finance, renewable energy, and eco-tourism. Human Rights and Democracy • Programs for teachers and/or students that strengthen Croatia’s Holocaust education curriculum by incorporating new resources, introducing new classroom strategies, and developing engaging activities and workshops that combat antisemitism and promote tolerance. • Programs that improve Holocaust education in Croatia by increasing the capacity of key institutions and organizations to deepen understanding of the past and legacy issues.
