PREPARE (Pandemic Preparedness): USAID is launching a coordinated and comprehensive program designed to minimize the impact of specific newly emergent diseases of animal origin, which pose a significant threat to human health and development. This program must be managed by the USAID Avian and Pandemic Influenza Unit. USAID will work closely with international, host governments, USG, and private sector entities to coordinate activities and ensure that USAID's involvement is consistent with that of the global health community.

Additional Information on Eligibility
To be eligible for the Cooperative Agreement under this RFA, an organization must: a. Be a U.S. based institutions, for-profit, non-profit or private voluntary organizations registered with USAID; b. Have experience and/or capacity to provide specialized technical assistance in pandemic preparedness planning in USAID-assisted countries described in this RFA; c. Agree to work with and hire individuals who have the technical expertise to provide technical support to strengthen country specific pandemic preparedness policies, and strategies; d. Have managerial, technical, and institutional capacities to achieve the results and objectives outlined in this RFA e. Have the capacity to collaborate with other organizations/groups in undertaking pandemic preparedness planning.
