Parasitemia, Health, and Reproduction in a Migratory Waterfowl: This is a Notice of Intent to award a grant to David Haukos, PhD., for the purpose of conducting research to explore relationships among parasitemia, health, and reproduction in lesser scaup females. The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: 1) Provide baseline information on lesser scaup health and parasitemia during the breeding season. 2) Relate parasitemia prevalence and indices of health to body condition and breeding status in lesser scaup females. 3) Explore factors influencing lesser scaup duckling survival in Lower Red Rock Lake within Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. This Single Source Award is being made in accordance with Department of the Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B 1, which allows for award without competition to an applicant based on unique qualifications.
