Pathobiology of Emerging Pathogens in Laboratory Animals (R21): Purpose. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) solicits new applications on the pathobiology of emerging and potential pathogens of laboratory animals including, but not limited to aquatic species, rodents, and non human primates. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Exploratory developmental (R21) grant mechanism and run in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-RR-10-005 that encourages applications under the R01 award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards Funding for 2011 is anticipated to be up to $ 750,000 in direct costs to support up to five R21 awards.
