Pathophysiology and Treatment Response in Late-Life Mood and Anxiety Disorders (R01): -Purpose. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite grant applications for research on the pathophysiological aspects of late-life mood and anxiety disorders and on the utility of findings in this research area for developing new treatments or predicting older adults response to existing mental health treatments, and to attract new investigators into interdisciplinary studies of these issues. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01), but applications under the NIH Small Research Grant Program (R03); the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (R21); and the NIMH Clinical Exploratory Grant Program (R34) are also sought. Applicants for the R03 should respond to PA-06-180, applicants for the R21 should respond to PA-06-181, and applicants for the NIMH R34 should respond to PA-06-248. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
