Real Time Machine Learning (RTML): A grand challenge in computing is the creation of a processor that can proactively interpret and learn from data in real-time, solve unfamiliar problems using what it has learned, and operate with the energy efficiency of the human brain. The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) are teaming up through the Real-Time Machine Learning (RTML) program to develop the foundational breakthroughs in hardware and machine learning needed to build systems that respond and adapt in real time.
