Region 4 Clean Sweep Program: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is accepting proposals from States, U.S. territories or possession, federally recognized Indian tribal governments and Native American Organizations, public and private universities and colleges, hospitals, laboratories, other public or private nonprofit institutions and individuals. Non-profit organizations described in Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code that engage in lobbying activities as defined in Section 3 of the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 are not eligible to apply. Funds are available for development of a prototype program to remove unused pesticides from the environment and demonstrate its effectiveness by quantifying the amount and types of pesticides removed and identifying the type of pesticides disposed and where such disposal occurred. All projects must occur in one or more of the Region 4 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and/or Tennessee. EPA will not fund routine implementation projects under this solicitation, but is seeking development and demonstration of new approaches, solutions, or pilots that might serve as future models for Clean Sweep programs. The total estimated funding available under this competitive opportunity is approximately $200,000. The actual number of awards and award amounts will depend upon the quality of project application packages received and the availability of funds. All projects must be completed within the project performance period of two years.
