Renovation of Badinan Gate: The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is pleased to announce availability of funding through the Public Affairs (PA) section for a project to renovate and preserve the Badinan Gate (also called Mosul Gate) in Amedi district, Duhok. The gate consists of the upper stairway, entrance of the gate, and the lower stairway. The eligible organization will submit proposals to provide logistical support to the Kurdistan Archeologist Organization (KAO), which has authorization to work at the site, and existing relationships with local authorities. The historical importance of the gate stems from its distinctive authentic architectural design, layout, and features. The project's overall goal is to contribute to the restoration and preservation of the gate and to promote sustainable management practices by those responsible for the site. The duration of the project is 18 months, after which the gate will be ready to be visited by tourists and the general public.
