Responding to Staff Trauma and Organizational Stress in Prisons and Jail Settings: Accessing and reviewing available and emerging research and information on the subject of vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and job-related stress in prisons, jails and related disciplines will provide the background for determining the current understanding of this issue. It will also provide the foundation for interviews/focus groups/surveys/polling and other information gathering activities. Through these activities, it is assumed that successful strategies currently utilized by prisons and jails will emerge and become the foundation for recommendations regarding affective approaches that could be replicated in other agencies.

- NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services.NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as sub-recipients.
