SCA Museum Interns Fort Union Trading Post: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Master Cooperative Agreement P15AC00031 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association, Inc. (SCA) for the purpose of building the next generation of conservation leaders and inspiring lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills, and leadership training. STATEMENT OF WORK: The work will be accomplished by partnering with SCA to provide two (2) SCA Museum Science Interns to work with NPS cultural resource staff at Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. This project will prepare future leaders and educators to manage national and local treasures. SCA interns will assist with cataloguing and photographing artifacts, preparing future leaders and educators to manage national treasures while they learn to teach history to rural North Dakota and Montana communities through museum exhibits and interpretive program development and delivery. RECIPIENT AGREES TO: Recruit and assist with the selection and place of two (2) SCA Museum Science interns for 12-weeks approximately to participate; provide for transportation to and from Fort Union Trading Post NHS and subsistence during the tour of duty.NATIONAL PARK SERVICE AGREES TO: Provide general orientation to park operations and NPS mission; provide appropriate training and equipment for the interns to carry out duties and assignments; provide a NPS technical representative on-site to assist the SCA interns with the specific tasks related to assigned duties, as needed; provide training, materials, specialized tools, project vehicle, and related supplies as needed; provide housing for the intern.
