Seeding Collaborative Interdisciplinary Team Science in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases (R24): -Purpose. The purpose of the Seeding Collaborative Interdisciplinary Team Science Program described in this announcement is to provide initial support to enable strong new investigative teams to form, and to foster preliminary research activities. It is anticipated that research teams receiving seeding support under this program will be well positioned to compete for funds through the parent NIDDK Collaborative Interdisciplinary Research Program in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases solicitation (see PAR-08-182).-Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the Resource Research (R24) grant mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. It is anticipated that 5-10 projects will be funded, but because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the mechanism numbers, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
