Study of Life Biology of Island Fox, San Clemente Island, CA: The purpose of this Agreement is to collect data on the island fox (Urocyon littoralis) juvenile survivorship rates and causes of mortality, specifically as they pertain to management challenges and requirements for no net loss to U.S. Navy readiness activities at San Clemente Island (SCI), and to provide vaccinations to the island fox against rabies and distemper to preclude threats to the population via disease introduction. This information will be used to (a) better understand the status of the foxes on SCI and (b) develop sound management strategies for maintaining a self-sustaining population, including sufficient juvenile recruitment.
