The Literate Village: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Egypt is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified US and non US organizations to fund a program entitled The Literate Village. a holistic and integrated literacy intervention targeting women, especially mothers, and children in rural and marginalized communities in the governorates of Beheira and Sohag. Depending on the measurable results of programming, and on the availability of funding, USAID/Egypt may also consider extending the intervention initiated in Beheira and Sohag to communities in the governorate of Assiut. Respondents to this NFO should present proposals for expanding interventions to needy communities in Assiut in years three and four of their operations.
