USAID Fighting Malaria with Social and Behavioral Change (FMSBC) program in Mozambique: USAID Fighting Malaria with Social and Behavioral Change (FMSBC) program in Mozambique The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Mozambique intends to award a five-year Cooperative Agreement (hereafter referred to as “the activity”) of up to $17 million. The purpose of the activity is to increase adoption and maintenance of malaria prevention and treatment behaviors in target areas of Mozambique through the use of evidence-based and theory-driven social and behavior change (SBC) activities. This will be achieved through the following objective: Increased and improved malaria social and behavioral change (SBC) design, implementation, and monitoring by Ministry of Health and implementation partners. These objectives will be achieved in coordination and collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, including the Government of Mozambique, other donors, implementing partners, and non-governmental organizations, and will contribute to the Ministry of Health's 2017-2022 National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) objective of implementing an effective SBC approach to ensure that people seek appropriate and timely healthcare and use an appropriate protection method. Accomplishment of these objectives will also depend on a close working relationship between this activity and other USAID activities targeting malaria control and elimination. Given the geographic scope of USAID's malaria programming in Mozambique, activities in these areas will be implemented at the provincial, district, and community levels in provinces of Nampula, Zambezia, and Manica, in addition to providing support at the central level. This activity will also support media interventions in Cabo Delgado. USAID's contributions in each province will be coordinated with other USAID-funded initiatives. Nampula and Zambézia continue as key provinces for USAID's goal of reducing malaria in high transmission areas. The province of Manica is a new priority province for USAID due to its high malaria prevalence and incidence.
