Understanding the role of Gut Immune dysfunction and Gut Microbiome in pathogenesis of Central Nervous System co-morbidities in people living with HIV (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed): This initiative is to support Basic and clinical studies to identify mechanisms by which gut microbiota/ gut immune system altered by HIV impact mental health outcomes in people living with HIV. The goal of this initiative is to investigate mechanisms by which the gut microbiome and gut immune system modulates the brain functions, circuits, neurotransmitters, signaling pathways and synaptic plasticity in the context of HIV and Anti-retroviral therapy.
